Fruit Chaat
Fruit Chaat is a staple South Asian fruit salad elevated with tangy, spicy, and sweet seasonings. Unlike standard fruit bowls, fruit chaat relies on fresh orange juice or sweet tamarind sauce mixed with chaat masala to coat every bite in a balance of salty, sweet, and sour flavors.
Ingredients
1. Fresh Fruits (Diced Small)
Bananas: 2 (sliced into thin rounds)
Apples: 2 (cored and finely diced)
Guavas (Amrood): 2 (deseeded and diced)
Oranges: 2 (peeled and segmented, or squeezed for fresh juice)
Pomegranate Seeds (Anardana): ½ cup
Grapes / Chickpeas (Boiled): ½ cup (optional for extra texture)
2. Seasoning & Dressing (Chaat Masala Base)
Chaat Masala: 1½ tsp (adjust to taste)
Fresh Orange Juice or Tang: ½ cup (keeps apples/bananas from browning and forms the dressing base)
Lemon Juice: 1 tbsp
Sugar or Honey: 1–2 tbsp (adjust depending on fruit sweetness)
Black Salt (Kala Namak): ¼ tsp
Roasted Cumin Powder: ½ tsp
Pro-Tips for Perfect Fruit Chaat
Cut Fruits to Uniform Size: Dicing all fruits into small, equal-sized pieces ensures every spoonful gets a blend of all flavors and textures.
Prevent Oxidation: Chop apples and bananas last, or toss them immediately in citrus/orange juice to keep them from turning brown.
Add Sugar Early: Mix sugar into the citrus juice before combining with fruit so the sugar granules dissolve completely without feeling gritty.
